THE PEAKS CONTRIBUTE TO THE MEMORIES WE RETAIN FOR MANY YEARS TO COME
You've queued for an hour, but you've had sales clerks pass by regularly with refreshments and snacks to keep you hydrated, you've been serenaded by carnival music and the laughter and screams of thrill-seekers. Your heart begins racing as you get closer and closer to the ride of your life; you begin bouncing from one foot to the other, your palms are sweaty.
Carnival staff are keeping you entertained and micro-misters are keeping you cool as you wait in line. A digital screen is playing a promotional video of the ride and the experience, further igniting your excitement for the ride. You creep even closer to the front of the queue - you can now hear the metal gears, the chains, pulling the cart up to the highest peak before the free-fall. Your breathing increases, you're next.
PEAK-END THEORY
What mattered most to you in this experience? Which pieces of the experience contributed to the memories you'll retain? Was it the waiting time? The weather perhaps? Was it the fear of the ride or the excitement of the thrill?
Whatever the memory - various elements, including the peak-end theory, were considered in the orchestration of the larger ecosystem that makes up this entire experience.
Your journey from start to finish, every interaction was carefully considered and designed with you, the participant, in mind.
